Gathering at the Home Venue of Art, Spending Beijing Time Together, “Beijing Dangdai Art Fair-Reunion” Opens
With the theme of “Reunion”, the Beijing Dangdai Art Fair opened grandly in Hall 11 of the National Agricultural Exhibition Center on April 28. As the first large-scale art fair held in Beijing this year, the “Beijing Dangdai Art Fair – Reunion” used Hall 11 of the Agricultural Exhibition Center, and 154 participating institutions gathered in a space of 18,000 square meters. Based in Beijing and reflecting the current era, the pioneering art fair has always adhered to the core concepts of curatorial, local and public. It is the largest, most ecological, most exciting and most comprehensive Beijing Dangdai Art Fair to date. The launch ceremony of the 2023 Beijing Art Trade Exhibition Month was also held on site at the same time. With the art fair as the center, Beijing Dangdai sincerely invites all parties to gather at the main venue of art and spend Beijing time together.
FAW Audi has always focused on exploring the perceptual aesthetics in the field of automotive design. This time, it will exclusively title this year’s “WONDER” and “DIGITALLATION” units to stimulate the infinite potential of technology and aesthetics in public spaces. Joe Wang, visual effects director of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics, chief visual designer of the 70th anniversary of the National Day, and founder of BLACKBOW, also shared his creative experience at the opening ceremony of the art fair and unveiled his latest creation “Prototype III” for the first time, which echoes and complements the boundless aesthetics advocated by Audi Q8. This year’s Beijing Dangdai Art Fair is not only the largest one to date, but also the one with the most comprehensive and colorful presentation of art types and industry ecology. From digital art to contemporary ink painting, from classic forms to trend symbols, from senior galleries to emerging institutions, from the art fair site to the concurrent activities throughout the city, it presents the colorful appearance and booming ecology of contemporary art in all aspects. In the gallery units “VALUE” and “FUTURE”, 97 participating galleries cover 33 cities around the world, including 48 galleries participating in the Beijing Dangdai Art Fair for the first time. Old galleries with decades of development history and emerging galleries established in recent years gather together, presenting a diverse lineup of artists and distinctive aesthetic trends of new and old galleries.
The “FAW Audi WONDER” unit, which focuses on public art creation, and the “FAW Audi DIGITALLATION” unit, which focuses on digital media trends, present many representative and groundbreaking works of artists at the art fair in the form of “exhibition within exhibition”. This year, the artists participating in the “FAW Audi WONDER & DIGITALLATION” sectors are: Wang Tianxin, Wang Zhiou, Zhu Sha, Lan Yi, Da Xun, Li Ying, Liu Wei, Neng Jianri, Qin Guanwei, Tang Huawei, Tian Longyu, Wang Guangle, Wang Wenting, and Yang Maoyuan.The “ENERGY” sector has 23 institutions participating, jointly exploring the inspiration of art and aesthetics in life. Among them, there are 9 art galleries, art gallery shops and art centers from all over the country, allowing the audience to enjoy the unique art galleries and art institutions across the country without leaving Beijing; the “CO-TIME” unit appears in the outdoor area in the form of a “sun room” this year, echoing the near summer season in Beijing and the main visual of kaleidoscope, gathering art derivatives and creative catering; in the “Special Art Project” unit, 9 institutions will present innovative projects across different fields on site, including virtual reality, naked eye 3D technology, algorithm generation, AI training and other emerging digital languages and the integration of art; public welfare organizations with humanistic and artistic concerns will also show that art contains more power beyond transaction and industrial logic. The art fair will also present 15 forums on different art topics, which will stimulate newer views and inspire more creativity in discussions and exchanges. At the same time, more than 20 VIP activities held throughout the city will spread the vitality of art to every corner of Beijing, while showing Beijing’s unique artistic appearance. The Beijing Dangdai Art Fair hopes to use “REUNION” as a starting point to join all participating institutions, partners, new and old collectors and audience friends in Beijing to consolidate everyone’s strong confidence in the future positive development of contemporary art, and jointly welcome and move towards a more prosperous and splendid cultural landscape.
