Beijing Dangdai Art Fair Announces Theme of 2026: LAND TRACE
Beijing Dangdai Art Fair 2026 will be held from May 21 to 24 at Hall 11, National Agricultural Exhibition Center. The 2026 edition adopts “LAND TRACE” as its annual theme, examining intercontinental cultural disparities and uneven historical experiences through the lens of geopolitics and historical geography, while remapping the nuanced landscape of contemporary art in current era. In a world of rapidly shifting geopolitical dynamics, long-established universal standards, discursive structures, and value systems are confronted with profound challenges.
Drawing inspiration from Halford Mackinder’s “World Island” theory—which frames Eurasia-Africa as a strategic civilizational nexus—the theme signifies both horizontal terrestrial connectivity and vertical civilizational dialogue. Through curatorial discourse, it highlights Eurasia’s cultural diversity and historical commonalities, showcasing cross-contextual artworks to dismantle boundaries, foster intercontinental resonance, and promote civilizational exchange.
Beijing Dangdai Art Fair 2025 brought together 132 exhibitors from 32 cities across 12 countries within its 20,000 sqm venue. In 2026, the Fair will return with a renewed vision, deeper perspectives, and impeccable services, presenting Beijing’s evolving contemporary art landscape.
We invite you to tune into the art zone of Beijing during the Fair’s “108 Hours in Beijing”, where continental artistic traces will be mapped in synchronization with the city’s creative pulse. This May, the “Beijing Art Season”, led by the Fair, will reignite the capital’s artistic energy and amplify its cultural vibrancy.
