On April 28 “Beijing Dangdai Art Fair” Invites You to “Reunite”
After three years full of uncertainty, change and alienation, in response to the current thriving social atmosphere and everyone’s mental state of being ready to go, “Beijing Dangdai Art Fair – Reunion” hopes to call on everyone to gather at the Art Fair with the art fair as the center, to achieve a grand reunion of art and the public, galleries and collectors, Beijing and the world. This is not only a belated fulfilment of the agreement to meet with everyone last year, but also a long-awaited gathering to stimulate the long-suppressed contemporary art market, regain everyone’s strong confidence in the future development of contemporary art, and jointly welcome and work together to create a more prosperous and brilliant future cultural landscape.
This year’s Beijing Dangdai Art Fair will be the largest one so far, and it will also be the one with the most comprehensive and colorful presentation of art types and industry ecology. From digital art to contemporary ink painting, from classic forms to trend symbols, from senior galleries to emerging institutions, from the art fair site to the concurrent activities throughout the city, it will present the colorful appearance and booming ecology of contemporary art in an all-round way. The art fair site will bring together more than 150 exhibitors. In the gallery sectors “VALUE” and “FUTURE”, 97 participating galleries cover 32 cities around the world, including 49 galleries participating in the Beijing Dangdai Art Fair for the first time. Established galleries with decades of history, such as Ota Gallery, Galleria Continua, Whitestone Gallery, Can Art Center, Soka Art, Red Gate Gallery, Tang Contemporary Art, Galerie Urs Meile, Tokyo Gallery + BTAP, etc., and senior galleries established for more than ten years or nearly ten years, such as Blank Space, Beijing Commune, Star Space, MadeIn Gallery, Antenna Space, A Thousand Plateaus Art Space, Cheng Xindong Gallery, etc., will gather together with emerging galleries established in recent years, such as SIMULACRA, Sense Space, Bonian Art Space, One Three Art, EDA Art Space, etc., presenting a diverse lineup of artists and distinctive aesthetic trends of new and old galleries. Guardian Auctions, Huayi International, Yongle Art Space, and Beijing Rongbao Auction will also bring important and exciting preview works.
The “ENERGY” sector will have 23 institutions participating to explore the inspiration of art and aesthetics in life. Among them, there are 9 art galleries, art gallery stores and art centers from all over the country, including UCCA Store, M Wood Store, Beijing Times Art Museum, Song Art Store in Beijing; Fosun Art Center and Oil Tank Art Center in Shanghai; Xihai Art Museum in Qingdao; A4 Art Museum in Chengdu; and Gulangyu Contemporary Art Center + in Xiamen. You can enjoy the most representative art galleries and art institutions in the country without leaving Beijing. The “CO-TIME” sector will still appear in a special form in the outdoor area this year, echoing Beijing’s near summer season and the main visual of kaleidoscope, gathering art derivatives and creative catering. The “Special Art Project” sector will have 10 institutions present innovative projects across different fields on site. Among them, d’strict will bring the “Digital Flowerland” that combines virtual reality and naked-eye 3D technology; Neo Digital Art will unveil the curatorial project “Art in Transformation” initiated by the global digital artist community for the first time. The works integrate a variety of digital language forms such as algorithm generation, AI training, 3D rendering, etc., and will explore more possibilities of digital art and curation in the future. Public welfare organizations with humanistic and artistic concerns, such as the United Nations Postal Service, the Beautiful China Teaching Project, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Children’s Alliance, and the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation, will also demonstrate the power of art beyond transaction and industrial logic. The special booth of the 5th Design and Art Fair will also show how the unique intangible cultural heritage charm of Qiandongnan Prefecture’s silver embroidery can be revived in the contemporary context.
April 28th to May 1st is the most comfortable season in Beijing. We hope to reunite with all participating institutions, partners, new and old collectors and audience friends at the Beijing Dangdai Art Fair at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center to experience the colorful charm of art like a kaleidoscope, enjoy an art festival that runs through the whole city, gather and connect with art, and jointly hope for and move towards a better future.
