2018.09.02 | Collection Meeting Room: Two Generations of Collection
Young collectors are rising rapidly in recent years! They have a good educational background and an understanding of art that often crosses cultural boundaries and regional barriers. How are the concerns of this group of new collectors different from those we are familiar with in the past? The starting point of early collectors, in Chinese 20th century art may be Chang Yu, in Chinese contemporary art may be Zeng Fanzhi; Twenty years ago, a collector would visit a young artist’s studio and, depending on the collection price at the time, buy the entire studio. But now, the opportunity to buy an entire studio collection is gone, but there are more opportunities to invest in collections, not just in our immediate surroundings, but around the world. The rise of young collectors, their knowledge and travel experience, with them have more diversified collection and investment art choices. The young generation, their collection ideas have been completely different from their fathers.
Between generations, what do they think of collecting? Do they build collections together, or separately? What conflicts arise? What is the process of dialogue, persuasion and sharing between the two fathers? Collection meeting room, listen to you together, collection experts take us to share the intellectual exchange between the second generation of collectors, and help us resolve and look at the conflict between the second generation of collectors.
