Beijing Dangdai 2020 “Tomorrow’s Art Fair” Explores the Future Standard of Art Fair
On September 25, the Beijing Dangdai 2020 “Tomorrow’s Art Fair” opened at the 798 Art Center, bringing together artists, collectors, gallerists and guests from all over the world, making Beijing’s art scene once again welcome the festive atmosphere after the “Golden Soup” art exhibition in early August. In the context of the epidemic, this year’s “Beijing Dangdai” has adopted a gradual expansion, multi-point interaction, offline and online approach, which is not only the “Beijing Dangdai” response to the epidemic, but also the active exploration of the future model of the art fair upgrade.
The opening of the “Tomorrow’s Art Fair” is the core section of Beijing Dangdai 2020. In the offline part of 798 Art Center, a total of 36 art institutions, art projects and fashion brands participated for six days. “Tomorrow’s Art Fair” not only includes the expo’s offline large exhibition hall mode, “Cadillac WONDER” immersive public art project display, but also adds an online booth on the Internet art platform “ART LOOP”, with nearly 60 art institutions participating, which will last for one month.
Offline and online, mutual complementary, each gallery and each work can be linked to the line by scanning the code, collectors can easily obtain the artist’s resume, work introduction and other detailed information, but also eliminate the inquiry process. For this way of connecting offline intuitive experience with online convenient norms, galleries and collectors think it is not only interesting, fresh, but also effective and reasonable. At the offline exhibition site, many collectors deliberately chose to purchase or book online, fully demonstrating their trust and enthusiasm for the new model of the art market.
Three Strong Alliance, Cross-border Cooperation
The “Tomorrow’s Art Fair” is jointly sponsored by Beijing Contemporary, Beijing 798 Cultural and Creative Industry Investment Co., LTD., and IMS (Tianxu) Star Mining Technology, A strong alliance of emerging art fair brands, internationally renowned art districts, and A-share main board listed companies, to come together for the art market and ecological growth. At the press conference before the opening, Wang Yanling, founder of 798 Cultural and creative industry, Li Meng, chairman of IMS (Tianxu), and Bao Dong, director of Beijing Contemporary Art, all expressed their appreciation and expectations for this cooperation in their speeches.
This year marks the third year that Cadillac and Beijing Contemporary have joined hands to continuously support the development of Chinese contemporary art, becoming a model of cooperation between brands and art links. While helping to promote the ecological development of Chinese contemporary art, Cadillac brand focuses more on the field of public art. As the chief partner of Beijing Contemporary, Dean Sciole, deputy director of Cadillac Brand, elaborated on the internal harmony between technology and art at the press conference, and introduced the “Cadillac Hope Art Chain” public art project that has been launched in early August.
A New ‘Art Circle’
The online platform of this ART fair “ART LOOP” Internet art platform is jointly developed by Beijing Contemporary and IMS (Tianxu) Star Mining Technology, which effectively integrates China’s art market habits and Internet users’ e-commerce experience into a transaction rule that fits all parties. And through this “Tomorrow’s Art Fair” gathered dozens of galleries, hundreds of artists, thousands of works of art, to bring you a new “art circle”.
The “ART LOOP” adds blockchain technology to art trading. The decentralized storage and imtamability of blockchain provide technical solutions for the art market to solve basic problems such as the traceability and ownership of works, and can build the trust of entry-level collectors in the art market. The Hashii Art blockchain system introduced by ARTLOOP is equipped with a special hardware “ARTLOOP BOX”, which actually provides distributed storage and hardware encryption equipment.
The professional value selection of the art Fair and the value network of the blockchain confirm that in the grand background of China’s new digital infrastructure, people have to make more expectations. At the conference site, Li Meng, chairman of IMS (Tianxu) Group, not only looked forward to the future of ART and blockchain, but also bought a painting work of Peng Lei, the lead singer of new pants, on the “ART LOOP” chain, personally demonstrating the convenience and norms of online. At the 26th forum event, practitioners in the art industry will discuss the online art market and the prospects of art blockchain with blockchain experts.
Holidays Still Together
As an art fair named after a city, “Beijing Dangdai” has never forgotten its public starting point. Under the pressure of the epidemic this year, although Beijing Dangdai 2020 was postponed for one month, it still created a common festival for the public in the autumn season.
In the core area of the park adjacent to the 798 Art Center, the Cadillac Public Art Unit has launched a unique era theme, and Li Han’s 250-meter-long “2020 No Man’s Path” combines the unique architectural landscape of 798 with our common memory of the epidemic. Jin Yang, the art director of Chang ‘an 12 Hours, brings people into the past memories, while Liu Zhan’s Shine on You – MR Steady On reflects people’s endeavor and persistence at this moment.
On the opening night, Sonic Fall Beijing, co-curated by Beijing Dangdai and Sound Station, used music to drive the atmosphere of the entire art circle. All the performers are contemporary art circles, and the curator Qin Siyuan is also a well-known contemporary art curator.
The Beijing Dangdai 2020 “Tomorrow’s ART Fair” also includes public welfare projects such as the “Intangible Heritage Children’s League” art exhibition, and the online display of the “ART LOOP” also allows more members of the public to easily view professional art works, and provides more opportunities for art lovers to become art collectors.
